Ubisoft taps Amazon Games VP to lead Tom Clancy franchise

French video game publisher Ubisoft announced on Wednesday that it has brought in Christoph Hartmann, a vice president from Amazon Games, to take charge of its Creative House 2 division. This unit is responsible for managing the popular Tom Clancy franchise, which includes titles like Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, and Ghost Recon. Hartmann will oversee the creative direction and production of future games in the series.

The move comes as Ubisoft works to strengthen its leadership and refocus its portfolio. Hartmann brings years of experience from his time at Amazon, where he helped launch and manage several game projects. Before that, he spent two decades at 2K Games, serving as president and overseeing major releases such as the Borderlands and BioShock franchises.

Ubisoft has been restructuring its internal studios to improve efficiency and quality. The Tom Clancy brand remains one of the company's most valuable assets, with a dedicated fan base and a history of successful multiplayer and single-player games. Hartmann will now be tasked with guiding the next generation of these titles, ensuring they meet both player expectations and the company's business goals. No specific release dates or new game announcements were provided alongside the hiring news.
