‘Marvel’s Wolverine’ star Liam McIntyre explains why he was ‘really scared to go all out’ (exclusive)

Liam McIntyre, the voice behind the clawed mutant in the upcoming "Marvel's Wolverine" video game, has admitted he was initially terrified to fully embrace the character's wilder side. In a new interview, the actor explained that portraying a "feral Logan" came with a unique set of pressures, making him "really scared to go all out" at first.

McIntyre, who took over the role from longtime voice actor Steve Blum, said the challenge was finding the right balance between the character's animalistic rage and his underlying humanity. He noted that Wolverine is not just a brute; he is a deeply complicated figure with decades of pain. The actor worried that leaning too hard into the savage aspects might strip the character of his soul.

However, as he settled into the role, McIntyre discovered that the game's narrative allowed for a level of emotional depth he had not anticipated. He explained that the script gave him permission to "take some really huge swings" with the performance. Once he trusted the writing and the direction, he felt free to explore Logan's most intense moments without holding back.

The actor emphasized that the key was committing fully to the character's physical and emotional turmoil. By letting go of his fear, he was able to deliver a version of Wolverine that feels both raw and grounded. Fans can expect a performance that honors the character's legacy while pushing him into new, uncharted territory.
