WipEout 2048’s PS Vita Online Campaign is Back Online

WipEout 2048’s PS Vita Online Campaign is Back Online

A group of dedicated fans has successfully restored the online campaign for WipEout 2048 on the PlayStation Vita, bringing the 2012 racing title back to life for players who thought those servers were gone for good.

Originally released as a launch title for the PS Vita, WipEout 2048 featured a robust online campaign that allowed players to compete in events, earn medals, and climb leaderboards. When Sony officially shut down the servers for the game years ago, that entire portion of the experience became inaccessible. Players could still enjoy the single-player mode, but the connected features were effectively dead.

Now, through reverse engineering and custom server work, a small team of community developers has re-enabled the online campaign. The fix does not require a hacked console or any modifications to the game itself. Instead, players need to adjust their DNS settings on the PS Vita to point to the new server. Once connected, the full online campaign becomes playable again, complete with leaderboards and multiplayer events.

The restoration is not just about nostalgia. WipEout 2048's online campaign was tightly integrated into the game's progression system, and many players never got to experience it fully before the official servers went dark. This effort gives those players a second chance, and it also preserves a piece of gaming history that was otherwise locked away.

For now, the project remains a labor of love, with no official support from Sony or the original developers. But for anyone still holding onto their PS Vita and a copy of WipEout 2048, the tracks are open again.
