Amazon Luna Joins Prime Video: 50+ Free Games [2026]

Amazon Luna Joins Prime Video: 50+ Free Games [2026]

Amazon has quietly changed where its cloud gaming service lives. Starting this week, Luna is no longer a separate app on Fire TV devices. Instead, it is built directly into the Prime Video interface. Prime members in the United States and the United Kingdom can open the Prime Video app, scroll to a new gaming row, and start playing without downloading anything extra.

The move brings more than 50 games into the fold at no additional cost. That library includes titles like Fortnite, Lego Fortnite, and a rotating set of indie and older AAA games. Amazon is calling this the "Prime Gaming" channel within Prime Video, and it replaces the old Luna app on Fire TV sticks and smart TVs. For now, the service is limited to Fire TV hardware. Mobile and browser access still require the separate Luna app, and those versions are not part of this new integration.

What makes this interesting is the pricing angle. Previously, Luna required a Luna+ subscription at $9.99 a month for a decent library. Now, the base tier is free with Prime, and the paid Luna+ subscription still exists for a larger catalog. But Amazon is clearly betting that putting games right next to movies and shows will get more people to try them. The company has been pushing Prime Video as a hub for all entertainment, and gaming is the missing piece.

The market impact is modest but real. Microsoft's Game Pass and Nvidia's GeForce Now are still the big names in cloud gaming, but Amazon has an advantage: it already owns the living room. Fire TV is one of the most common streaming devices in American homes. Putting a free game stream right next to a Netflix-style interface removes the friction of signing up for a separate service. It is not a Game Pass killer, but it is a smart way to get casual players to click a game instead of just another show. The real test will be whether people actually stay for more than a few minutes.
