The next entry in the philosophical puzzle series will be the last one. Devolver Digital has confirmed that The Talos Principle 3 is in development and that it will definitively conclude the story. The publisher wants to avoid the endless franchise cycle that plagues so many other games.

Croteam, the developer behind the series, is working on the third game with the explicit goal of ending the narrative. A representative from Devolver explained that too many video games just keep going without a proper finish. They said it is frustrating when a story ends on a cliffhanger that never gets resolved, or when a series drags on for years without a planned conclusion.

The Talos Principle games are known for their deep questions about consciousness, artificial intelligence, and what it means to be human. The first game put players in the role of an AI solving puzzles in a simulated world. The second expanded the scope with a larger world and more complex themes. Now, the third game is being designed as a final statement on those ideas.
